Very thoughtful owners here have created the ideal B&B for a relaxing break. Beautiful antique furnishings in a centuries old home make for a cozy, comfortable stay. The bed is heaven and bathroom is modern and lovely.

The comfort of the bed was excellent and the owner was so welcoming and friendly . We would definitely recommend Chez Tuffin and go back again

We stayed at Chez Tuffin for five nights after a week of camping and it was bliss to sink into clean white cotton sheets and enjoy the peace and tranquility of Salles Lavalette. Chez Tuffin is a gem of a place, tastefully decorated but with a homely and comfortable feel. The huge salon is exclusively for guests’ use and leads out onto a pretty little courtyard where we had a glass of wine in the evening. Sue and Phil are amazing hosts and cannot do enough to make you feel welcome. Breakfast was the highlight of the day for us as each morning we were presented with croissants, bread , locally produced jams, fresh figs and apricots from the garden, freshly picked mint for my tea and Sue even boiled the kettle in anticipation. Everything about Chez Tuffin is charming; from the lovely blue shutters framing the large windows to the balcony over
looking the square and the church. We fell in love with the place. Sue and Phil have obviously put a lot of thought into making their guests feel comfortable and relaxed and provide a fridge, plates and cheese boards if you want to have a bite to eat in the evening. Salles Lavalette is a sleepy little village with nothing to do but relax. We  spent our evenings very happily doing jigsaws and reading in the salon. During the day there’s plenty to do nearby and Sue and Phil were happy to give us tips on places to visit. We would heartily recommend a visit to Chez Tuffin and hope we will be able to return one day. Even our dog didn’t want to leave

The pictures for this listing really don’t do it justice – Sue’s apartment/b&b is breathtakingly beautiful! Sue and her husband have created a sophisticated and luxurious piece of high-quality accommodation in a picture-perfect little French village. The rooms are tastefully decorated remaining true to their wooden vintage origins but updated to provide all possible comforts – the lounge downstairs recalls the antique wood-panelled grandeur of an exclusive members club whilst the bedrooms are visions of fluffy white comfort! Sue and her husband couldn’t have been more helpful before and during our stay, going out of their way to book us into the local restaurant and offering advice to make sure we made the most of our trip. They are an absolutely lovely couple and I’m sure will ensure many people have the same great experience we did. I would also strongly recommend the local restaurant ‘Chex Pantxo’ in the village – the chef/proprietor (and proud Basque) Panxto is (literally) a larger than life character who also went out of his way to welcome myself and my friends into his restaurant and gave us a wonderful night of excellent food, drink and his enthusiastic view on Basque history, music and culture. We left with full bellies, great stories to tell and the names and addresses of two friends of his that we absolutely had to look up and go to see for dinner later in our trip! The view from the terrace in his restaurant is also something rather special.

Salles Lavalette is a wonderful quiet village with scenic walks in beautiful countryside. We stayed with Phil and Sue for a night. The bed was comfortable and room was spacious and airy, upstairs with a balcony looking right at the church next door. The bathroom was spacious and newly finished. There are two bedrooms upstairs in a larger house which Phil and Sue are restoring. We were fortunate to be given a tour and it is certainly an amazing building. The accommodation is upstairs and separate from the hosts. There is one bathroom which can be shared if both rooms are rented or is an ensuite if only one room is booked. Would be great for friends or family travelling together. Downstairs there is a huge lounge room with a courtyard and tables. We’ve rented a car and so we were able to drive to markets at surrounding villages and ate at various restaurants.

Me and my friends made this booking about a month before our trip to France; we were visiting the area for a friend’s wedding. Sue was super fast in getting back to us and extremely helpful and communicative. Sue offered to pick up my group of friends and I from Bordeaux airport and drive to her accommodation as well as make the return journey on the day of our departure. We were staying in Longeveau – about 15mins drive from Sue & Phil’s for the wedding and Sue also offered to drop us there too – we arranged this in advance for a much better rate than any local firm. Sue was fantastic company during the car journeys – we felt like we got to know her and we were lucky enough to share their beautiful home. The house itself was unbelievable – the farmhouse had original features, in keeping decor and a warm, relaxing atmosphere. The only issue we had is that we only spent 24 hours there! The surrounding area was completely idyllic, with the only sounds being the ringing of the church bells. A beautiful breakfast was made for us and laid on our dining table including milks, freshly squeezed orange juice, pastries and fruit and homemade preserves. They also allowed us to collect tomatoes and figs from their garden and use their kitchen to prepare any food for ourselves. There is no current guest kitchen but we had ample facilities and were able to see the plans for a future kitchen! Phil and Sue showed us around their house and their plans for further development and this only made us want to return even more. We can’t thank Sue and Phil enough for their first class hospitality as they truly went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible. We will be sure to return – thanks again Sue and Phil! Glynn, Eugenie, Sophie, Ben & Kelly
